My Role:
Creative Director, Graphic Designer & Campaign Marketing Strategist
The Brief:
Santino Guerra’s campaign for Flint City Council’s 3rd Ward was a groundbreaking effort to energize the community with a fresh and youthful perspective. The campaign sought to create a distinctive and cohesive brand identity that emphasized accessibility, progress, and community engagement. By combining strategic design with impactful communication, the campaign aimed to reshape Flint's local political narrative.
The Designs Behind Flint’s Youngest City Council Victory

The Challenge:
The key challenge was to craft a compelling brand identity that resonated with a diverse voter base while showcasing Guerra’s progressive values and youthful energy. As the youngest candidate in the race, the campaign needed to project professionalism and relatability in equal measure, ensuring Guerra’s message connected across all demographics. Tight timelines for direct mail and digital content production added to the complexity of maintaining high-quality, consistent messaging.

The Solution:
I developed a comprehensive brand identity that included a bold logo and visually striking assets designed to stand out in Flint’s political landscape. Vibrant colors and strong typography conveyed optimism and innovation, while a clear and relatable design approach fostered trust and engagement.
To address specific voter concerns, I designed three sets of tailored direct mail postcards that highlighted key community issues and Guerra’s solutions. Dynamic social media content further extended the campaign’s reach, creating meaningful interactions with constituents and encouraging active participation.

The Impact:
The campaign culminated in a historic victory, with Guerra becoming the youngest individual ever elected to Flint’s City Council. This milestone underscored the transformative power of strategic design and community-focused messaging. Through this project, we demonstrated how thoughtful branding can empower emerging leaders, foster community trust, and drive meaningful political change.
