The "Solidarity Forever" Mural was part of a Proclamation from the Governor of the State of Michigan. Our studio embarked on the design and creation of a series of murals for the UAW Local 598 in Flint, Michigan. Conceived with the membership in mind, our aim was to honor the union's rich history and enduring legacy within a sprawling auditorium where regular membership meetings take place. This project comprised three distinct murals strategically placed throughout the space: one at the back and two at the front. The back mural chronicles the history of UAW Local 598 from the iconic Sit- Down Strike of 1937 to the challenges faced during the Flint Water Crisis of 2014. The front left mural vividly depicts the GM Strike of 1969, a pivotal moment in the Local's history, while the front right mural commemorates Factory No. 2, the original car plant chartered by UAW Local 598.

Inspired by Diego Rivera's "Detroit Industry Murals" at the Detroit Institute of Arts, the format of our mural series mirrors the grandeur and narrative complexity found in Rivera's work. Originally conceived as a single back wall mural, the overwhelming positive reception led to additional requests from the Local, including three more murals, a wall decal, and podium artwork.

The dedication and unveiling of the back wall mural were marked by a Proclamation from the Governor of the State of Michigan, commemorating the 80th Anniversary of UAW Local 598.
